The whole play is connected by Guang Weiran, the lyricist and Xian Xinghai, the composer of the Yellow River Chorus. The male and female protagonists in the play adopt the art form of duet and duet, To reflect the root cause of the continuous growth of Northern Shaanxi culture. There are dances in the play, songs in the dance, feelings in the song and scenes in the feeling. In each chapter, feelings are expressed in songs, including production and labor, love between men and women, folk customs, pouring out sorrow, anti Japanese and national salvation, praising the Red Army, celebrating victory and other elements.
